Practical information > Host cityThe 21st International Colloquium of the Charles Gide Association, dedicated to the theme of crisis, will take place from 2 to 4 July 2026 at Université Bretagne Sud, on the Tohannic Campus in Vannes, within IAE Bretagne Sud. Located in the heart of the Gulf of Morbihan, Vannes has nearly 50,000 inhabitants and is one of the main cities of Brittany. Built in the form of an amphitheatre on the northern shores of the gulf and at the mouth of the Marle River, the city enjoys a privileged location between the coastline and the Breton countryside. A city rich in history and heritage, Vannes is particularly renowned for the quality of its historic centre, surrounded by remarkably well-preserved medieval ramparts. Its narrow streets and numerous timber-framed houses bear witness to the rich past of the Veneti city and its historical role in the history of Brittany. The Port of Vannes, located in the very heart of the city, opens directly onto the waters of the Gulf of Morbihan before reaching the Atlantic Ocean, about twenty kilometres away. This maritime setting, combined with a well-preserved architectural heritage, gives the city a particularly pleasant environment.
